Registering for a Grindr account is harder than it seems, judging based on people’s complaints about the Registration Error, which means you are unable to create a Grindr account.
This is an anti-spam measure Grindr has taken to balance the large influx of profiles being created by the hour.
But where does this leave REAL users who genuinely want to make the most out of Grindr?
Disclaimer: reasons other than the ones provided by the Grindr General Registration Troubleshooting guide are purely hunches.
– Now that we got that out of the way, one of the reasons Grindr gives a Registration Error is because they believe an account is spam.
You’ve made multiple accounts on the same device, basically.
– Issues with the Grindr servers are also quite common. This includes bugs or servers being down.
– On the other hand, we have problems concerning users’ devices. Bad Wi-Fi, an overloaded app, geo-restrictions, and so on.
– You haven’t filled Grindr’s requirement. Grindr doesn’t allow minors on their platform, for one. To read more on the Grindr Community Guidelines, click here!
This specific Grindr issue is affecting your whole experience. From top to bottom. This is why you need to switch up these 2 key components:
- Your device;
- And phone number.
First, you need a NEW phone number from a reputable source — a number only you can access.
– DatingZest is a service that provides real phone numbers to help protect your anonymity on dating sites. It has multifaceted benefits, even being able to unban you from Grindr.
It shows up as DZEST on your credit card statement, so you don’t have to worry about anyone finding out.
DatingZest’s Grindr Phone Numbers can help with that; they’re some of the only ones able to bypass every verification process Grindr throws your way.
Firstly, ditch the phone you’re currently using for another device. Use another phone or your computer so as to throw Grindr off your tracks.
Then, get your DatingZest phone number. While registering, use a DIFFERENT email address and verify it using your DatingZest phone number.
Once you put the number in, go back to the DatingZest page you got the number on to also retrieve your code. Finally, use your code to verify your account.
Though DatingZest is the most secure, reliable way to do so, below I’ll provide additional solutions and the problem they fix.
In case it’s your Grindr app’s fault, you need to update it if there are any updates available — this will bring your app up-to-date, making it less susceptible to bugs.
If your app is updated but it’s lagging, go to your Settings and then Apps to find Grindr and tap on Force Close. It completely shuts it and all of its activities down; it’s highly recommended for dysfunctional apps.
And if you think it’s a lost cause, just delete and re-install the Grindr app on your phone.
If you have already opened up many accounts on your device, then, as I said, Grindr might flag your future ones as spam.
I recommend you install Tinder on another phone, register as usual, and verify your email address like you always have.
Then you can use this very account on your old device if needed.
Another way to throw Grindr off your tracks is to reset your phone so that it doesn’t recognize your device. This is for when you don’t want to try out the method above.
Undergo the process as per usual after your device is on again
VPN is a double-edged sword because, on one hand, dating apps are able to detect them and stop users from registering while connected to VPNs.
On the other hand though, if your IP is banned or if geo-restrictions are in question, using a VPN could benefit you here.
Disconnect or connect from your VPN accordingly while trying to sign up to fix the Registration Error.
Check the state of your Wi-Fi connection just so that you know it’s not its fault you cannot register for a Grindr account.
Sometimes a bad internet connection can interfere with apps’ basic features.
Luckily for us, Grind offers other sign-up options:
- Facebook;
- Apple ID;
- Google.
If you’re already using one of these, switch them around until you find one you do not get the Registration Error with.
Just to be on the safe side, you can try opening a new Facebook, Apple ID, or Google account in order for Grindr not to connect the dots.
For example, if your old Grindr app was associated with your Apple ID, open a new Apple ID and then download the Grindr app AGAIN.
Of course, you can also pick the Apple ID registration method for your account as well. If it doesn’t work, try out the rest too.
When the servers are down, you’d best wait for them to be back up and running! If in doubt, give Grindr 24 hours to let you back in.
You can check Grindr’s status before making any haste decisions.
Send Grindr an email at the address above, going over the issue of how you cannot register on your new account — this is something Grindr themselves encourage you to do.
On the downside, the majority of people are upset because Grindr doesn’t email them back; when they do, it’s usually way later and something unhelpful.
This panel actually acknowledges the Registration Error in the “How can we help?” box, meaning you’re not the only one to experience this issue.
Anyways, submit a request here, pick the Registration Error as your problem, and provide the following information:
- A screenshot of your error screen;
- Your log-in method:
- Your email address;
- Where you’re creating the account (US, UK, etc.);
- The device you’re attempting to create it on.
And if this doesn’t work either, Grindr encourages you to try again by sending your IP Address to them and a screenshot of the error screen.
Grindr reports this being the reason for many’s Registration Errors, presumably because the app is encrypted by being put into the Secure Folder.
Remove it from there and try to make your account with the Grindr app on your regular home screen.
Grindr is not available in every country, such as Iran, Syria, Pakistan, etc., so you may be required to use a VPN.
Nevertheless, your choice to connect to a VPN may prove to be useless as Grindr is inaccessible in certain countries, point blank.
You’re free to try it out, but Grindr has no say when it comes to censorship matters that might be preventing you from registering.
Now that you’re in the loop, go get your Grindr account back!
