KCRW Summer Nights at CAAM – M FA TP > KCRW Summer Nights comes to California African American Museum this Friday with sets by KCRW DJs Novena Carmel and Francesca Harding, plus a guest set by DJ Gavin Turek. Zoo Friday Nights -> This Friday, the L.A. Zoo continues their summer series of weekly after-hours events, offering access the zoo grounds at the sunset hour while experiencing carousel rides, food delicious bites for purchase, beverages, DJ’d music, and a family dance party. MASQ! – M > This weekend, Heritage Square Museum transforms into a Venice Carnevale on the evening of a masked ball where a vengeful phantom appears,seeking justice. Presented by the Downtown Repertory Theater Company, known for sold out experience Fangs! and Witch!, this years production MASQ! will include unique individual experiences as you meet the peopleof La Serenissima and traversea world of haunted mansions and an abandoned church. Super 70mm Star Trek 60th Anniversary Series -> It’s all Trek all the time this Friday to Sunday at the Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the production of the original Star Trek television series, you can catch screenings screen ultra-rare 70mm prints of Star Trek II-VI, as well as the restored Star Trek: The Motion Picture director’s cut in 4K Digital. Plus, special guests (like Adam Nimoy and director Nicholas Meyer) will be in attendance for pre-screening intros and conversations. Tickets are $25 per screening. Marvel Studios’ Infinity Saga Concert Experience -> This Friday and Saturday at the Hollywood Bowl, Gustavo Dudamel leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a musical journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe backed by film clips of the iconic heroes and buoyed by fireworks and light-up PixMob wristbands. Friday Night Wine Tastings at Barnsdall Park – M > It’s the final Friday summer night wine tasting at Barnsdall Art Park. A $45 ticket gets you a flight of wine curated by Silverlake Wine, plus access to a rotation of food trucks, all supported by tunes from local DJs and sweet sunset views of the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Park Observatory. Shakespeare in the Park – FA > The Independent Shakespeare Co. is once again bringing a summer of the Bard to Griffith Park, but unlike in past years, the 2024 season will focus on a single production. From July 10 to September 1, catch Wednesday-through-Sunday performances of As You Like It at ISC’s familiar space near the Old Zoo. Cinecon Classic Film Festival -> Cinecon celebrates its 60th year this September. The five-day showcase held at Writers Guild of America Theaterin Beverly Hills puts the focus on unusual, rarely seen, and otherwise out-of-the-public eye films, with packed slates of screenings interspersed by Q&A programming. Leimert Park Jazz Festival – M FA TP > The 2024 Leimert Park Jazz Festival returns this Saturday with a packed lineup of Jazz artists supported by a kids zone, wine lounge, and food court at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. La Gente de Santa Monica Block Party – FA > This Saturday, the City of Santa Monica, Curator Steve Galindo, and Dorado 806 Projects team up to host a block party to mark the citywide exhibition La Gente de Santa Monica, which honors Latinx, Afro-Latin, Asian-Latino, and Hispanic Heritage Month. Giant Robot × JANM Konbini 2 – M TP > This Saturday, Japanese American National Museum and artists from Giant Robot team up to create a pop-up Konbini (Japanese convenience store) where guests can shop snacks, household supplies, art prints, zines, pins, and more. Plus, you can check out the Giant Robot Biennale 5 art exhibition on display at the museum. Access to the pop-up is included with museum admission, which starts at $16 for adults. Yoga on the Mountain at King Gillette Ranch – FA > On the last Saturday of the month, the Santa Monica Mountains Fund hosts a morning of outdoor yoga and live acoustic music at the King Gillette Ranch in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains. Happening from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the event includes a wine garden by 1010 Wine, Prosperity Market’s mobile farmers market place, craft area for kids, a Black business scavenger hunt, live entertainment and more. Swimsuits & Cowboy Boots Labor Day Edition -> Celebrate Labor Day at Desert 5 Spot’s rooftop bash, “Swimsuits & Cowboy Boots,” on Sunday. Happening from 2 p.m. until late guests can ride on a mechanical bull, dance poolside to DJs, and cool off in the pool.
